I was happy with the choices of pie recipes and the stories behind the pies for the regions. The biggest flaw of this book is that she added no photos of any of the recipes!! Well organized regional pie cook book. Enjoyed the various crust recipes. Nice explanations about each ingredient to make a stellar crust, the various regions and ingredients, and background information on each pie. A fun read.

After hearing an interview with the author, I decided I really wanted this book. Since my wife is a pie person, I wanted to try these out on her (and she's been quite a willing subject!). I've made about 6 recipes from this book and all of them have been very, very tasty!

I made the Hoosier Cream Pie recipe from this book and it turned out great. The brief discussions of each region and description of recipe origins make this a very readable cookbook. I also appreciated the addition of a Persimmon Pie recipe, which is now on my 'things to bake' list.
