"THE LAST FIGHTER PILOT: The True Story of the Final Combat Mission of World War II" is centered mainly on the combat service of Army Captain Jerry Yellin of the 78th Fighter Squadron (15th Fighter Group, United States Army Air Force [USAAF]) in the Pacific between March and August 15, 1945 (the...

I really liked this book. a lot of interesting things going on, although a short book. which made it great to read. I liked it as my dad flew B29's in the Pacific. It gave me insight on that. Also the battle of Iwo Jima gave insight as to why the atom bombs were used. I highly recommend this book...

An extraordinary book on an American P51 Mustang fighter pilot, Captain Jerry Fellin who flew the last combat mission of World War II out of Iwo jima. From April-August, 1945, Captain Jerry Fellin and his fellow pilots flew dangerous bombing and strafting missions out of Iwo Jima over Japan. The...

Don Brown’s The Last Fighter Pilot is an engaging and interesting account of the last days of World War II. It begins with the fight for Iwo Jima, and ends with the dropping of the atomic bombs and the final surrender of Japan a few days later. I thought I was well versed in the events of World...

Everyone with the slightest interest in the Pacific battles of WWII should read this book. Anyone who wants to support our WWII veterans should read this book. The Last Fighter Pilot is already a National Bestseller and the NY Post is declaring it a must-read book. I'm totally with them on that c...

The four star rating is based on the historical elements of the story not because it replicates Steinbeck or Hemingway. The story centers on Captain Jerry Yellin and his memories of the WWII war while a P-51 fighter pilot on Iwo Jima. The book will provide a window into the horrors of the war in t...

A concise book that tells an excellent story. I like the fact that I learned information about the late WW II air war over Japan and the stationing of US military personal on the island of Iwo Jima. The book relates the heart break of Jerry losing various squadron members during the late war and...

A bit of history that should be on every reading list As the son of a WWII bomber pilot, I have a great respect for the men who tried to keep my dad alive. The Army Air Corps team sacrificed a lot to win the war and this book documents another facet of the story.

Brief, too many diversions about issues unrelated to the Captain. Disappointed in author's writing capability. I felt he was writing for high school students-the forties, my generation. After all the publicity and hype "The Last Fighter Pilot" was a disappointment. Jim, Wilmette
