A familiar story - waiting for the last egg to hatch, so I expected some surprise ending. However, the title is inviting and original.
Rhyming text set in thin black font invites joining in to the action words and building of suspense. Rhyming phrases are spread over 2-3 pages.

Reading to review for the Beehive Poetry Long List nominees. Sweet pictures. Underlying story arc of a family waiting for the egg to hatch. The excitement from new beginnings in the spring. The poetry worked pretty well for me to. Would work well in either toddler or preschool storytime.

Rhyming text and realistic detailed illustrations of the springtime world enhance this simple tale about the last egg to hatch. Good tie-in with our first graders' science unit on life cycles and hatching chicken eggs.

I definitely feel like reading this book to my belly about now - shake a leg! Come on out!!
The rhyming text is fun, and the illustrations are pretty. A little light on substance, but it's still a fun read.

"Meet the pond. Greet the sun. Say hello to everyone!"
A mother and her babies wait for the last egg to hatch, cajoling it with enticing descriptions of what is awaiting its arrival. The illustrations are wonderful.
