"This planet sucks"--Rocket Raccoon Let me just say that I didn't read any of Skottie Young's run, I just happened to randomly pick this up in the YA comics section of my library, so had no expectations. Rocket Raccoon is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and he is stuck on his least favori...

I read this in single issue form all at once. I wonder if my expectations for Rocket Raccoon are too high. By all means, he should be one of the most entertaining members of the Guardians of the Galaxy but instead he gets saddled with ridiculous, inconsequential adventures that felt like five issu...

Best known for his indie work at Black Mask, Matthew Rosenberg is also carving out a niche at Marvel with idiosyncratic, character-driven series that allude to the publisher's decades-long continuity without being too overwhelming for new readers. The man has range, too: his two Kingpin miniserie...

In the aftermath of Civil War II, the Guardians have been cut off from space. Enter the "Grounded" storylines... Rocket is hilarious and everyone knows that, but on his own, it's not as easy to get things done. Tracking down a Shi'ar operative, Rocket is trying to get off world, but he gets pulled...

This was okay. I think the Guardians stuff is getting stale, or just overdone. I enjoy Rocket's outrageous antics, of course, but the best part of his solo stuff is when he acts like a good guy despite not really wanting to be one. And you get that in here, but mostly this was just a story-line t...

No one romps like Rocket. A fish out of water. Rocket wandering through New York trying to leave the planet. Funny. Silly. Violent. This would make a great short movie with lots and lots of cameos. Not high art. But consistently awesome. Still stupid though.

This volume of Rocket Raccoon is fun, sometimes funny, but over all it is a critique of US immigration policies and Xenophobia that doesn't get preachy. I would have given it 4 Stars but there were too many jokes/references to 30+ years of Marvel comics that would be lost to a causal reader.

I was surprised it was more than shooting with a definite sprinkling of social commentary.

rocket is stranded on earth, a merry band of psychopaths are hunting aliens for sport and rocket blows someone's balls off with a grenade. kinda disappointed in this?! it felt lacking? 3/5.

This volume was a lot of fun. Rocket as writen by Rosenberg is brilliant and Coelho's art has such a beautiful detail to it - especially in the panels with views of the city.
