You might know Sabrina Benaim from her reading of "explaining my depression to my mother: a conversation", a video of which went viral this past spring. That poem is haunting, read with such passion that you can't help but be affected by it. The words are beautiful, honest and raw, but the readin...

As someone who has never lived with depression, this is one of the best glimpses into it I have ever experienced. Wow..reading this I felt like I was riding through Kentucky back roads with Sabrina and she gave me the ins and outs of her journey with depression and by the end of the ride and effo...

This book is not yet published so I don't know how people are already rating it. I really just wanted to sneak in and ask where you got your copies and state that this author is fabulous. I can't wait to read this!

I pre-ordered this book just after seeing the video of Sabrina reading 'Explaining My Depression to my Mother- a Conversation'. The poem itself seemed so accurate and gave me a way to explain what I go through on a daily basis to those who don't quite understand.

So so so soo good. I've you ever seen Sabrina's button poetry performances, so you will love the hell out of this collection. Some short and sweet poems to digest and others to slowly process as you delve deeper and deeper into the emotional hole.
Highly recommended to all.

This is actually the very first poetry book I've ever read it is entirety! Though I must admit, I prefer hearing poetry read aloud, this was a really neat reading experience. Benaim is talented (those metaphors, girl!) and I think my younger self would have felt solace in her words. I hope many o...

I am a huge fan of Sabrina Benaim's work. I have probably watched the YouTube video of her performing "Explaining My Depression to My Mother: A Conversation" a thousand times, and I really enjoy a lot of her spoken word poetry. I was, however, a little disappointed with this debut collection. It...

-Disclaimer: I won this book for free through goodreads giveaways in exchange for an honest review.-
I was quite intrigued by the idea of the book and the title.
It did not deliver what was advertised. I was under the
impression the book was about depression and some of it was.
I enjoyed and relate...

I liked a handful of these—'How to Fold a Memory,' 'On Platonic Love Being a Real Thing,' and 'The Slow Now' in particular—but mostly they didn't resonate with me. Broadly speaking, I don’t think slam poets transfer well to the written form. Several of the works in this collection seemed as if th...
