(I received an advance copy of this book for free. Thanks to Hachette Children's Group and NetGalley.)
This was a YA sci-fi story about survival on an alien planet.
Seren was an okay character, although she did irritate me with her assumptions at times. Having a big strop because she found out that...

This book was one of my most anticipated book releases of 2017. I remember finding out that there would be a sequel to 'the Loneliness of Distant Beings', which involved a big gasp and a happy dance.
Of course my copy arrived during my week-long trip to Scotland, which made the anticipation even...

I loved The Loneliness of Distant Beings, the first book in the Ventura saga for its spaceship-setting and the strange and proscriptive society Kate Ling created for her characters to rail against. With Soren and Dom escaping Ventura at the end of the first book, I was concerned that there was no...

I really enjoyed Kate Ling's first novel in the Ventura Saga; The Loneliness of Distant Beings. It was chilling and bleak and really set up an interesting story for a follow-up.
Fast-forward a year and a half, and I was kindly send an unexpected copy of the follow up: The Glow of Fallen Stars. Ad...

Wow! I thought the first book was great, and usually with trilogies, the second book tends to just drag out ideas set out in the first. Not so in this case. From start to finish, the reader is hurtled through an abundance of twists and turns as Seren and company take on the challenges that are th...

Beautifully written, gripping, moving and underpinned by optimism about human beings. The central character is a flawed, feisty, brave and remarkable young woman who I would love to meet. Highly recommended.

Having loved The Loneliness of Distant Beings I’ve been eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the Ventura Saga - it doesn’t disappoint. Huxley-3, a challenging environment, is beautifully depicted as the characters come to terms with their new home. The story moves quickly and the unpredictable...

This was my most anticipated read of 2017 after I fell in love with the first book in the trilogy last year. It had a lot to live up to, which is why so many middle books I’ve read have been a bit of a disappointment. Not this time, though. I am so bloomin’ pleased to report that The Glow of Fall...
